EV8 Launch Next Phase of Human Switch Project to Revolutionize EV Energy Trading
London, UK – Kearney, in collaboration with Cenex, is proud to announce the launch of the next phase of the Human Switch project – building on the success of the previous phases funded UK Space Agency. This phase will develop the next stage of the EV8 technology stack, leveraging GNSS data and AI algorithms to accurately predict vehicle behaviour and optimize energy trading opportunities for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy assets.
Project Overview: The eight-month Human Switch project will develop a commercially ready technology stack designed to optimise how clients participate in energy markets and unlock enhanced value from their EV batteries. The EV8 platform will support a diverse range of organizations, including fleets, bus operators, utilities, vehicle OEMs, and charge point operators. By providing precise and dynamic forecasting on charging needs, the platform will improve capacity predictions, reduce capital expenditure costs, and generate revenue from pre-financed vehicle batteries.
Key Benefits:
- AI-Driven Decision Making – The AI-machine learning algorithms enhance monetization strategies, offering realistic revenue calculations for assets within an energy system through optimized charge and discharge decisions.
- Commercial Expansion – EV8 will expand its value chain focus by providing an API service, allowing third parties to embed the functionality into their applications and ensuring cross-regional and cross-country relevance.
Leadership Insights: Dr. Rebecca Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of EV8, expressed her excitement about the project: “We are thrilled to collaborate with the UK and European Space Agencies again. The development of the EV8 technology stack will focus on the EV8 Live service, which primarily involves predicting and optimizing energy usage and requirements.”
Dr. Roberts continued, “EV8 Live will provide a unique AI-machine learning-based 72-hour forecast on key site and EV battery capacity flexibility. This forecast requires minimal data feed to deliver accurate predictions for energy trading.”
Chris Berry, Partner at Kearney “We are excited to embark on the next phase of the Human Switch project in collaboration with Cenex and EV8 Technologies. This initiative represents a significant leap forward in leveraging AI and GNSS data to optimize energy trading for electric vehicles. With the generous funding from the UK Space Agency and the European Space Agency, our EV8 technology stack will empower clients to unlock new revenue streams and enhance the efficiency of their energy assets. We look forward to driving innovation and sustainability at the intersection of EV and Energy markets.”
Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex, added – “We are proud to support the next phase of the Human Switch project. From the outset, it has pushed the boundaries of how satellite and telemetry data can drive EV adoption. This new phase goes further still—into optimising EV infrastructure. We’ve been developing an AI-powered forecasting tool for EV utilisation, integrated into a world-leading methodology for fleet charging optimisation. This will help fleet managers maximise their assets and strengthen the case for switching to electric.”
The UK Space Agency has invested nearly 3.6m EUROs into the Human Switch project through the European Space Agency’s Advanced Research in Telecommunication Systems (ARTES).
Dr Craig Brown, Investment Director at the UK Space Agency, said:
“The Human Switch project shows the transformative potential of space-based technology in advancing electric vehicle energy trading. By using GNSS data and AI algorithms, this project will not only optimise energy usage but also unlock new revenue streams for EV owners and operators. Our investment highlights our commitment to developing innovation and sustainability in the energy and transport sectors.”
